Evolving Asynchronous Cellular Automata for Density Classification
This paper presents the comparative results of applying the same genetic algorithm (GA) for the evolution of both synchronous and randomly updated asynchronous cellular automata (CA) for the computationally emergent task of density classification. The present results indicate not only that these asynchronous CA evolve more quickly and consistently than their synchronous counterparts, but also t...
متن کاملAsynchronous cellular learning automata
Cellular learning automata is a combination of cellular automata and learning automata. The synchronous version of cellular learning automata in which all learning automata in different cells are activated synchronously, has found many applications. In some applications a type of cellular learning automata in which learning automata in different cells are activated asynchronously (asynchronous ...
متن کاملSpatial Pattern Formation in Asynchronous Cellular Automata with Mass Conservation
The pattern formation of asynchronous cellular automata with mass conservation is explored. A cellular automaton rule causing a specified kind of pattern was manually designed, and the mechanism of pattern formation was found similar to real chemical process. In addition, a methodology to automatically search for pattern-forming cellular automata is proposed, and its performance is validated. T...
متن کاملWeighted Asynchronous Cellular Automata
We study weighted distributed systems whose behavior can be described as a formal power series over a free partially commutative or trace monoid. We characterize the behavior of such systems both, in the deterministic and in the non-deterministic case. As a consequence, we obtain a particularly simple class of sequential weighted automata that have already the full expressive power.
متن کاملSearching for Pattern-Forming Asynchronous Cellular Automata - An Evolutionary Approach
This paper discusses a class of 2-dimensional asynchronous cellular automata with conservation of mass, for the formation of patterns in groups. The previous study reported a methodology of searching, automatically, for pattern-forming cellular automata using a genetic algorithm; this approach successfully found a few types of pattern-forming rules. The current study is a series of statistical ...
